Near/Far

In the fall of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Lauren and her fellow faculty, staff , and students in the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Mississippi were determined to stay in artistry and creativity while also adhering to safety protocols. The result was Near/Far, a movement piece in beautiful, Larval Mask. The show was devised, designed, rehearsed, and performed remotely over Zoom. In the show you are about to watch, the actors are in their homes and dorm rooms in front of specially designed green screens. The evocative designs are meant to inspire a sense of a place lost to time, like a shipwreck at the bottom of the sea. The story is an exploration of isolation, loss and , ultimately, the importance of community. Click on the title below to watch the show on YouTube.
