Near/Far

The incredible design team for Near/Far has officially applied for Prague Quadrennial 2023. In celebration, I reshare this remarkable project with you. The show was designed, rehearsed, and performed remotely with all actors in their homes and dorm rooms working off of laptops and in front of green screens. It was a herculean effort on the part of so many. I invite you to revisit this lovely performance. A reminder of the importance of community.

Improv for Athletes

Improv for Athletes

After performing and teaching Improv for over 30 years I have observed that people are wildly creative. People are also wildly fearful of expressing their creativity.

We are afraid to mess up; to make mistakes or to look foolish in front of others.  And so, we stifle our impulses.  We spend a lot of time in our heads worrying.  Worrying about what choice we should make or what others think about us.    This worry keeps us from following our impulses. From trusting.  If we are in our heads, we are not listening to others or focusing on what is happening in the moment.  Maybe you have felt this way on the field...

Improv is all about being in the moment.  It’s about focus, communication, trust and being willing to take big risks.

For athletes, practicing Improvisational games and exercises will result in an improvement in all of the above. Your team will be more focused and more in tune with one another. You will learn to see through your fears, to problem solve in the moment and to take risks.

White Rabbit, Red Rabbit at Denizen Theatre

No director, no set, and a sealed envelope with a script hidden inside. With a different actor for each performance, White Rabbit Red Rabbit is a lively, global sensation that no-one is allowed to talk about. Slyly humorous and audaciously pointed, this theatrical experience is unlike anything you have ever seen. Lauren is incredibly exited to be a part of this absurdist adventure.

SOUND THANKS AND NEWS!

A note from Lauren - “The process of creating FURY! was almost three years in the making, included several workshops and many hours in both the writers’ chair and rehearsal hall. Music was a big part of that process and I am grateful to the many artists who have given permission to use their creative content at the professional premier of FURY! at the Phoenicia Fringe Festival next weekend. I am also excited to announce that I am currently collaborating with sound designer Natalie Houle to create an original score. Some of Natalie’s work will be featured on the 13th, alongside the artists listed below. I am grateful to her for embarking upon this journey with me and to the generosity of the artists who have contributed to this project.”
